This year is the century of the main street in Madrid, Gran Via where my parents met at first time. Gran Via street, known as Madrid’s Broadway, it has been compared to New York’s Fifth Avenue and the Champs Elysées in Paris. The coolest film directors have turned it into a key location, Almodovar… The Gran Vía has always been in vogue. And now, on its 100th birthday, more than ever. What better way to celebrate its anniversary than by photographing some of its most brilliant characters: its retail residents. On a spring afternoon, you can take to the sidewalks that have fascinated famous faces, from Ernest Hemingway to Ava Gardner, and looked in some of its most photogenic boutiques: from the luxury of Loewe to trendy young Stradivarius.
