Miss Barcelona-Forbes goes crowd funding
Hola amigos, Miss Barcelona is back with more information about crowd funding. I explained yesterday what is Crowd funding but today I would like to give you some practical examples about it.
As I said yesterday, crowd funding can happened after a natural catastrophe, or artist seeking support from their fans, but it also have business purposes. There are a large number of companies that finance themselves through the support of people that believe in what the company do.
Companies as well known as WordPress and Wikipedia are constantly crowd funded. Wikipedia is the 4th super internet company, follow by more than 4.000.000 people on a daily basis and its funds come completely from donations.
Crowd funding is changing the face of business when it comes to financing, let’s check out what FORBES, only one of the most important magazines on earth, has to say about it:
“Crowd funding is not new, but mostly something we associate with charities and, more recently creative projects. The March of Dimes is a good example of how an early example of crowd funding helped lead to a vaccine for polio. The Washington Monument was constructed using donations from individual Americans.
Social media has moved crowd funding to the Internet, where good ideas have a better chance of meeting people willing to support them. For example, a friend recently raised $10,000 (100.000SEK) for a children’s software app on Kickstarter and there are many more examples on the site and its competitors.
If you are trying to start the next Google or Facebook, crowd funding is probably not for you. But if your needs are modest crowd funding may be for you. I’ll probably use it for my next business.” (David Corsey)
