The world is more Spanish today: Mario Vargas gets the Nobel prize in literature
Hola amigos y amigas!. Here the new Nobel prize of literature born in Peru that lives in Spain now for many years.
I miss my mother tonge so much, Spanish!. There is something special about the Spanish language. I think it was the Spanish King Philip the second, Emperor from Spain when Spain was an empire, that said that English is to make business, French to make love and Spanish to talk to God!. Well, you choose! :). I hope you don’t get me wrong!.
I’ve always loved literature and as a kid in Spain at my Catholic school with uniform (a good girl), I used to dream about becoming a writer, journalist or something one day. Many things have happened in my life since then but thanks to my blog, I feel closer to my dream! I’m a MissLopez blogger. Maybe I should do a Spanish version of MissLopez? Maybe soon…
But first, Congratulations to the winner, a very famous writer in Spain and I guess South America as well, Felicidades!. Mario Vargas Llosa, versatile as few- is a writer declared but has also succumbed to the world of journalism and film criticism and art– Mario Vargas Llosa is one of the greatest exponents of the realist novel in Spain. This morning the Swedish Academy has awarded the ‘Nobel Prize for Literature for 2010’, which comes with a million euros. The Academy has justified the choice “for his mapping of the structures of power and his scathing images of resistance, revolt and defeat of the individual.” Known by various titles such as’ The City and the Dogs’ or ‘The Green House’, Vargas Llosa adds this award to others that already counts as the ‘Prince of Asturias Literature’ (1986) or the prize ‘Planet ‘(1993) in Spain. It will be next November when his latest novel, ‘The Celtic dream’ will be published. I look forward to it and you know I was born in the Celtic region of Spain, Galicia!.
I really like Mario’s style as a writer. Let’s see if I have the change to see him when he comes to Stockholm for the Nobel prize in December.
Viva the power of writing and Feelgood!
