Enjoy culture in Italy this summer!

Hi everybody!. Beyond sun and sand holiday, July and August are also a cultural melting pot in many European cities, with a wealth of music festivals, theater and art in every corner. Italy, of course…from Siena to Verona, from Spoleto to Rome, and why not, Venice. Already you  have a perfect excuse to travel to any of them in summer.Here are the most suggestive:
Palio of Siena
Siena, July 2 and August 16
The beautiful city of Siena, in Tuscany for two centuries held an unusual horse race is rooted in the medieval tradition. A competition in which each year, two days in the summer, ten of its neighborhoods competing in a crowded Piazza del Campo fans. Less than two minutes at full gallop bitter rivalry enough to make this event the most famous horse race in the world.
Arena di Verona
Verona, until August 29
The festival reaches its 88th edition paying tribute to, Franco Zeffirelli, who at 87 years continues to perform his work as director. This summer, under the slogan Tutto Zeffirelli, should be presented five operas under his leadership: Turandot, Aida, Madama Butterfly, Carmen and Il Trovatore. Do not miss the opportunity to experience a unique and admired artists of the internationally renowned opera in the magnificent Roman amphitheater in Verona.
Festival dei Due Mondi
Spoleto, until July 4, 2010
This international festival for art, music and culture held in the small town of Spoleto, near Rome, this year celebrates its 53rd. He is considered one of the most important cultural events in Italy and its program is characterized by unique, innovative and sometimes unique stagings, especially of his operas.
Puccini Festival
Torre del Lago, until August 22
Created by Puccini in 1930, the outdoor theater of Torre del Lago, near the Villa Mausoleum is a perfect setting to enjoy the music of one of the most popular Italian artists and prominent worldwide. If you like you can enjoy the opera La Fanciulla del West, Turandot, Madama Butterflyand Tosca, and if you like the ballets of Carmina Burana,Le Villi and Romeo and Juliet.
Baths of Caracalla Festival
Rome, July 1-August 8
Very near the Circo Massimo in the square Numa Pompilio, are the hot springs that were largest in Rome, dating from the year 212 AD. Today only part of the splendor they had in their day, yet there can be no more privileged stage to host the Rome Opera Festival. On stage this year you can attend the operas Aida and Rigoletto and the ballet Romeo and Juliet.
Sferisterio Opera Festival
Macerata, from July 29 to August 10
The Opera Festival is hosted almost entirely on the magnificent theater Sferisterio, uniquearchitecture, designed in 1823 by the architect Ireneo Aleandri with semicircle shaped plant. The 46th edition of the festival has in the program works as Faust, La Forza del Destino, I Lombardi alla prima Crociata, Attila
Stresa Festival
Stresa, 23 August to 4 September
Musical Weeks of Stresa and Lake Maggiore are undoubtedly an important event in the panorama of European festivals of classical music each year with the participation of artists of international renown, but it certainly is the setting takes place in this idyllic region on the border with Switzerland, the largest of its attractions. In 2010, the Stresa Festival prepares for big celebrations to be held in 2012 on the occasion of the 50th edition.
Venice Biennale of Art
Venice, until October 2
The Venice Biennale, the great international art exhibition held every two years, is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world and since its inception in 1895, is a showcase of new artistic tendencies: from cinema to architecture, music, theater or dance are part of this great event.
Bolzano Danza
Bolzano, 19 -31 July
The 26th edition of Bolzano Dance Festival is a journey through the signatures of the most-watched Italian choreography in the international arena. The Festival is held in the chambers of the Municipal Theatre, but also includes outdoor performances in the streets of Bolzano and, if you decide you or your children, then there will be opportunities to learn and practice the most varied disciplines of dance with choreographers from around the world.
